Sunshine Insurance: Total Assets Surpass 20 Billion Yuan

    Sunshine Insurance Group reported that its total assets surpassed 20 billion yuan and hit 21.29 billion yuan by the end of this April. It took two years and half (from July 2005 to February 2008) for Sunshine Insurance Group to reach a total asset of 16.23 billion yuan, 15 times more than that on the establishment. Again, it took only 60 days to achieve a total asset of 21.29 billion yuan.

   With the strong support from its giant state-owned stockholding companies such as China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec), China Southern Air Holding Company, Aluminum Corporation of China and China National Foreign Trade Transportation (Group) Corporation (SINOTRANS), Sunshine Insurance Group has been keeping a rapid and sound development trend, which now has two major subsidiaries including Sunshine P&C Insurance and Sunshine Life Insurance.

    So far, being one of the seven insurance groups in China, Sunshine P&C Insurance has more than 31 provincial branches nationwide while Sunshine Life Insurance has 5 branch companies passing the test for operation by the local insurance supervision bodies, branches totaling near 700.

    In addition，as a newly emerging insurance company, Sunshine Insurance Group has made outstanding achievements in terms of social responsibility.

    On March 3, 2008, Sunshine Insurance Group at one time pre-paid a reparation of 60 million yuan to Aluminum Corporation of China for the snow disaster, which is the largest sum of insurance pre-indemnity in terms of natural disasters including storm, snow and frost by now in China and has aroused great attention in the society.

    On April 28, 2008, Sunshine Insurance Group responded quickly to the train collision accident in Jiaoji, Shandong. Among all the reparations of the 4.28 Accident, the largest insurance indemnity of 500,000 yuan was from Sunshine Insurance Group.

    As for 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake, Sunshine Insurance Group urgently launched the emergency mechanism to deal with the aftermath of the disaster. By May 28, Sunshine Insurance Group has received 212 claims from Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Shanxi and Chongqing and the related compensations have been undergoing orderly and tensely. Currently, Sunshine Insurance Group has donated various materials worth over 500,000 yuan.
