It seems that the year 2008 is a troubled times for China, when it is fully embracing its most glorious moment in history---Beijing Olympic Games.
On May 12, 2008, again, China was caught by a disaster since 1976 Tangshan earthquake.
At around 2:28 that very afternoon, Wenchuan County in West China’s Sichuan Province was hit by an earthquake measured a revised 7.9 on the Richter scale. More than 13 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities nation-wide could feel the obvious shaking such as Beijing, Gansu, Qinghai, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet and Jiangsu.
With no hesitation, Beijing-based Sunshine Insurance Group, which was founded only in June 2005 and now has grown into one of the seven insurance groups in China, held an emergency meeting to deploy the work concerning payment of claims. A command group was set up at the Beijing Headquarters with Chairman and President Zhang Weigong as the group leader, top executives from Sunshine Life Insurance and Sunshine Property Insurance as members and two sub-groups separately in charge of information and claims. In the worst-hit areas like Sichuan and Chongqing, branch offices of Sunshine Insurance Group went into actions immediately.
On May 14-16, 2008, Sunshine Insurance Group organized a donation ceremony in Beijing, collecting over2,600,000 yuan, which is the second of this kind since the Snow Disaster in Southern China this spring festival.
